Dermal fillers are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in America. In 2022, over 4 million people used dermal fillers.1 These temporary injectable treatments can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, increase lip volume, and provide contouring to the jaw, nose, and cheekbones.

There are a variety of fillers approved for cosmetic use. Each formulation is designed to address a range of concerns. The filler Belotero Balance is a cohesive gel filler that is ideal for correcting fine, etched lines on the face.

Belotero Balance vs Juvederm

Like Juvederm and other popular filler brands, Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance. When it is injected under the skin, it increases volume and adds plumpness to the area. Over time, your body absorbs the hyaluronic acid, and the effects of the filler fade. Touch-ups or repeat treatments are necessary to maintain results.

Belotero Balance is formulated to work closer to the surface of the skin. Your doctor uses a fine needle to inject it into the top layers of the dermis, where it smooths the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Other fillers, such as Juvederm and Restylane, are formulated for injection slightly deeper into the dermis.2

What Does Belotero Balance Treat?

Belotero Balance is FDA-approved for treating moderate to severe lines in the lower half of the face. It can be used for deep wrinkles like the nasolabial folds or marionette lines. However, Belotero filler is formulated as a smooth, flexible gel that integrates into the skin structure.

This formulation makes it ideal for treating more delicate areas of the face. It can be very effective at smoothing etched-in vertical lines that appear around the lips.3

What to Expect When You Get Belotero Balance

When you arrive for your appointment, your doctor may offer you a numbing cream to ease discomfort. Belotero contains lidocaine, which also helps with any discomfort from the injections.

Your doctor will inject Belotero Balance into the area to be treated using a very small needle. They will massage the gel gently to make sure it is placed where you need it. The process usually takes less than an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. Results are visible immediately.

After receiving fillers, you may have soreness, bruising, or swelling. You can use cold compresses and over-the-counter pain medications to manage any discomfort. The pain and swelling usually subside within a few days. You can return to normal activity immediately.

The Belotero Balance cost is generally $625 per syringe.4 The effects last about six months.
