Dermal fillers are one of the most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments in America. More than 5.2 million people got dermal fillers in 2023, with over 1.4 million people getting fillers in their lips.1
Lip injections can increase lip volume and reduce the look of wrinkles. Traditional fillers sometimes create an overfilled look and don’t move naturally underneath the skin of the lips. Restylane Kysse is a filler specifically formulated to look and feel more like natural lip tissue.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that can be used to add volume underneath the skin. Many fillers consist of a gel made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that your body produces. Injecting the hyaluronic acid under the skin provides instant, visible plumping of the treated area. It’s particularly useful for smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and scars and adding volume to the chin, cheekbones, and lips.2
What Is Restylane Kysse?
Restylane Kysse was FDA approved in 20203 as a more natural looking filler for lips. So what is Restylane Kysse made of? It delivers the proprietary XpresHAn Technology which crosslinks to the hyaluronic acid chains.4 The result is a gel that moves with the surrounding tissue with a more natural look. People who get Kysse say that it feels more real when they’re moving their lips to talk, eat, or kiss.
In addition, the formulation gives plumping results with less filler than traditional formulations. Results last for up to a year. A syringe of Restylane Kysse costs between $500 and $700. 5
What Is Restylane Kysse Used For?
The FDA has approved Restylane Kysse specifically for lip augmentation and correcting wrinkles around the upper lips in people over age 21.6
When you get lip fillers, your dermatologist will talk to you about what results you want, then mark your face to map where to place the injections. Restylane Kysse has lidocaine in the formula to help with pain. But you may also want to use numbing cream to treat the area.
Once you’re prepared, your doctor will inject the filler into your lips and massage them gently into place. It should take less than an hour. You should be able to see Restylane Kysse’s results right away.
You’ll be able to go home immediately after your appointment, and you can resume normal activity immediately.
Restylane Kysse Recovery
After getting lip fillers, you may experience pain, bruising, or swelling around the injection site. You can use cold compresses to ease discomfort and help bring down any inflammation. Ask your doctor about which pain medicines you can take after injections. The bruising and swelling should get better within 14 days.
Like all hyaluronic filler, Restylane Kysse results are reversible. If you don’t like the look, you can return to your doctor to have them dissolved.
